Paul Eugene Purser, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday December 6, 2021. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Adam Alexander Purser and Mary Benfield Purser. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Choplin Purser and 7 siblings.

Mr. Purser was a member and deacon of East Baptist Church, Gastonia. He was a member of Lowell Masonic Lodge. Paul retired from the Gaston County Public Defender’s Office where he was the Lead Investigator for many years. He was a baseball historian. He enjoyed spending time at family gatherings.

He is survived by two sons, Christopher Paul Purser and wife Clarita of Bessemer City, and Weylan Charles Purser and wife Elizabeth of Gastonia; one daughter, Sherry Ann Purser of Lenior, sisters Mary Miller and Betty Bess.
 

A service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00pm Thursday December 9, 2021 at East Baptist Church in Gastonia with Reverend Tim Parker officiating.  Burial will follow at Westview Gardens Cemetery in Bessemer City. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00pm prior to the service at the church.
