Obituary

Robert Eugene “Smiley” Hannifin, 83, passed away on Tuesday March 2, 2021. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Frank and Marjorie Hannifin. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Hannifin. He was a member of the US Air National Guard for over 35 years. He retired from the National Guard at age 52.  He was a Deacon at Garr Memorial Church in Charlotte where he also sang in the choir. He started driving a tour bus at age 48. He worked for American Charters and loved taking people all over the United States. He drove the Stanley Blue Devils Football and Cheer programs to many destinations especially Disney World. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. He always enjoyed attending the grandkids activities.

He is survived by his wife of over 59 years Becky Hannifin, 2 children Paige Hannifin Frakes of Dallas, and Rob Hannifin and wife Dana of Stanley. 6 grandchildren Allie Blanchard, Harrison Frakes, Porter Frakes, Chase Hannifin and wife Paige Jamison Hannifin Tyler Hannifin, and Sadie Hannifin. Brother Pat Hannifin and wife Annie of Charleston, SC. Sister in law Martha C. White and husband Danny of Mount Holly. Nephews Patrick Hannifin and Brian Hannifin and niece Leslie Hannifin.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday March 7, 2021 at 4:30 pm at Alexis Baptist Church with Rev. Sandy Marks officiating.  The family will greet friends after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Souls Harbor Tabernacle, 603 S. Loraine Street, Dallas NC 28034.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to April Lynch and Teresa Buff for there care during the past years.
