Robert Owen Tallent, 81, of Alexander County, NC passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022. Bob was born on January 6, 1941 to William Temple Tallent and Margaret Kate Crawford Tallent in Franklin, NC.
After attending Stanley High School, Bob joined the Navy where he served his country for 4 1⁄2 years as a gunner’s mate aboard various ships. After Service, Bob returned to Stanley where he went to work at the old Sodyeco Plant in Mount Holly, later known as Sandoz and then Clariant. He was a Department Supervisor and avid leader of his building’s softball team. Bob retired from Clariant after 32 years and moved to Oak Island, NC. where for 18 years he was an avid fisherman, gardener and beekeeper.
Bob is survived by his wife, Rachel Tallent; two children, Barbara Rozzelle and Billie Taylor; two stepchildren, Rebecca Stewart and Josh Stewart (Jan'Ell); one sister, Carolyn Baker (Herschel); four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Bob is predeceased by two brothers, William Tallent Jr. and Edward Tallent; and two sisters, Bessie Rector and Joyce Calloway.
Bob’s last adventure involved taking care of his bees and making honey, riding his tractor or his side-by- side while surveying his land and feeding the fish in his pond. He was a joy to his family. His laugh was infectious, and he ensured that his wife and children knew how much they were loved each and every day. He will be truly missed.
