Sula Mae Freeman Lee, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 86, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Born on May 5, 1939, in Union County, North Carolina, Sula's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her devotion to family, and her love for her community.
Sula was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rufus Bert "Pete" Lee, and her sister, Pauline Underwood. She is survived by her two cherished sisters, Pearl Wood and Judy Henry, her dear friends Peggy and Barbara alongside numerous extended family members who will continue to carry her legacy of love and kindness.
After graduating from Indian Trail High School, Sula furthered her education at Kings Business College, equipping herself with skills that would serve her well in her professional life. She dedicated many years of service to the City of Charlotte before retiring, where her contributions to the community will always be remembered.
Faith was at the center of Sula's life. She loved the Lord deeply and was an active member of her church community. Her faith guided her actions and provided her with solace and strength throughout her life. Sula also had a special affection for cardinals, which brought her great joy and served as a reminder of the beauty of God's creations.
Sula's graveside service will be held on Saturday October 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the New Covenant/Snow Hill Cemetery in Mount Holly officiated by Pastor Roger Grassfield. This gathering will be a celebration of her life, honoring the warmth and love she shared with everyone she met.
