Teddy Bee Henderson Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Teddy Bee Henderson, who departed his earthly life on October 9, 2024, at the age of 72, surrounded by love and compassion at the Robin Johnson Hospice House. Teddy, a remarkable soul born on January 30, 1952, in Charlotte, was the cherished son of the late Buford Claude Henderson and Edith Lorene Henderson.

Teddy's life was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of family, friends, work, and passion. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Lindsey Henderson Lanier, and her devoted husband, Eric Lanier. Teddy shared a close and profound bond with Lindsey, a testament to his unwavering dedication as a father. He leaves behind his sister, Carol Thompson, and her husband, Larry Thompson. Teddy's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Carson, Austin, Hanna, Madison, and Caleb (with his wife, Morgan), as well as five great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. Also among his dearest friends, Ron Hedden, Angie "Bumadean" Crowe, and George Swann were like his own children, sharing countless cherished moments.

Though Teddy's journey on earth has ended, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. He was preceded in death by his special friends Ronnie Austin, Freddy Leatherman, and Spencer "Alf" Butler, whose companionship enriched his life.

Teddy dedicated 39 years of his life to Duke Power, working as a senior crane operator, where he was admired and respected by all who knew him. After his retirement he began pursuing his passions. An avid watch and gun collector, Teddy found immense joy in the simplicity of life's pleasures. He was a fervent fan of Nascar, relished fishing at the outer banks, and cherished camaraderie with friends at the Wahalla GunShop. He was a former member of the Belmont Fire Department where he served for many years. His heart belonged to Mountain Rest where he retired to and lived, where he was neighbors with his lifelong friend, Wayne Hedden.

Teddy was a man of humor, a trait that endeared him to many. His playful spirit was infectious, and his friends fondly remember him as a "cut up," always ready with a joke or a smile. Yet, it was his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need that defined his greatness. To know Ted was indeed a privilege; his generosity and warmth left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.

A celebration of Teddy's life will be held on Saturday October 26, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The service is open to all who wish to honor his memory and share in the joy of having known such an exceptional man.

Teddy's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever shine brightly in our hearts. As we gather to say goodbye, we remember the wonderful father, brother, friend, and man that he was, and we find solace in knowing that his spirit will forever be with us.
