Thomas Marion Nowaski, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. He was born on April 24, 1947, in Houston, Texas, to the late William and Willie Mae Nowaski.
Thomas lived a life dedicated to his family and community. He graduated from Spring Branch High School in Houston, Texas and went on to build a successful career in retail, working for notable companies including Woolworth, White's Home and Auto in Austin, Texas, and Michael's Crafts in Raleigh, North Carolina. His work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew him.
Over the years, Thomas found joy in many hobbies. A devout Dallas Cowboys fan, he never missed a game. He had a deep love for country music, frequently going to dance halls and enjoying dinner theaters with his wife. Fishing and camping with his family were cherished pastimes that created lasting memories, reflecting his love for the outdoors and the joy of being with loved ones.
Family was at the heart of Thomas’s life. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Laura Nowaski; his sons, Michael and Preston Nowaski; and his daughter, Angela Nowaski Perry, and her husband, Trey. Thomas was also a proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Caroline and Carly Perry, and his grandson, Nash Perry. He is also survived by his brother, James Nowaski, and his wife, Debra, as well as his brother-in-law, Daryl Trei, along with extended family and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, William and Willie Mae Nowaski, and five brothers and sisters: Richard, Ralph, William, Francis, and David Nowaski, as well as his sisters Cynthia Nowaski and Monica Dorough.
Thomas was an attendee of Mass at St. Francis of Assisi, and Church of Apostles where he formed meaningful connections with fellow parishioners. His warm spirit and kind heart left a lasting impact on those around him.
A funeral service to honor Thomas’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Huntersville Presbyterian Church. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Family and friends are welcomed to join in celebrating the life of a man whose legacy of love and family will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew him.
