Vernon Edward Beer, passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on August 31, 1945, in Lincolnton, Vernon was the beloved son of the late Emma Beer.
Vernon's life was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of dedication, love, and service. As a young man, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Vernon proudly served with the 11th Cavalry Armored Division Blackhorse Regiment, a testament to his courage and commitment.
A man of many talents, Vernon was known as a great fisherman and a passionate farmer.
Vernon was a devoted family man who cherished his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his three children: Vernon "VJ" Beer Jr. and his wife Angie of Stanley, Sonjia Canipe and her husband Danny of Lincolnton, and Scotty Beer and his wife Amber. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Savannah (Brian), Casey, Justin (Miranda), Amanda (Justin), Jason (Danielle), Henry, Kailey, and Mark, along with his three great-grandchildren: Cheyanne, Presli, and Rosie. Vernon shared a special bond with his best friend, Bonnie Etter, who stood by his side through life's joys and challenges.
