Wayne Woodard, age 71, passed away on December 1, 2023. He was born Sept. 3, 1952, in Bryson City, North Carolina to the late George Matt and Arzelia Woodard. He was the 6th child of eight, born to George and Arzelia. He worked 24 years at Ed Wallace Construction in Stanley. He was a great loving Husband and a loyal friend to many.
Surviors include his wife Rosemary Woodard, 2 sons Paul and Brian Woodard, 4 Sisters, Betty Mashburn (Danny) Maxzine Winchester, Nora Jones (Jimmy) and Carolyn Fisher (Frank)
A brother, Wade Woodard (Helen) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by brothers - Joseph Matt Woodard, Roy Edison Woodard, Brothers-in-Law, Earl Mashburn and Cline Winchester.
He will be remembered by his closest friends and family Raymond Hacker, Lewis Petty, Mark Mull, Eddie Miller, Tim Woodard, Johnny Winchester, Clay Wallace, Norman Whitehouse, Peanut and the entire Ed Wallace Construction Company.
A memorial service will be held 5:00pm Wednesday December 6, 2023 at Way of the Cross Church in Mount Holly with Rev. Bobby Meeks officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-5:00pm prior to the service. Burial will take place at noon on Friday December 8, 2023 at Mason Branch Cemetery in Bryson City, NC.
