Wilma Joyce (Postell) Cartee

Wilma Joyce Postell Cartee, 73, of Mount Holly, NC went home to Jesus with her loving daughter Gail by her side making for a peaceful journey on May 30th, 2023. Wilma was born on August 3rd, 1949 in Knox, Tennessee to the late Pate and Reba Postell. She was preceded in death by a daughter Darlene Cartee and grandson Joshua Huss.

Wilma is survived by her husband Larry Cartee; two daughters Pam Deason and husband Tug of Stanley and Gail Huss and husband Todd of Stanley; grandchildren Nikki Dishman and husband Brandon of Alexis, Trey Deason and wife Brooke of Kings Mountain, Stephanie Westbrook and husband Justin of Kings Mountain, Brandon Brown and wife Tiffany of Stanley; sister Geanette Cagle of Robbinsville; great grandchildren Knox, Sawyer, Baylor Pate, Abigail Kate, S.J., Daniel and Rhex and Boone (soon to be here) great grand child.

Wilma was most affectionately referred to as Mawmaw and Yaya by her grands and great-grands. She enjoyed a sundrop slushee and cheeseburger hand delivered by someone she loved. She loved chatting on the phone with her life long friend “Mae” Virginia Owen while having Bible study. 

Wilma loved the Lord and made friends where ever she went. It didn’t matter if you were the cleaning lady or the doctor, she made sure you knew that she loved Jesus and that Jesus loved you. 

Wilma enjoyed her shopping trips for new Sunday outfits with her nieces Joyce and Penny.
Wilma loved watching her hummingbirds and often referred to them as her visitors.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will take place at The Freewill Church Of Jesus Christ in Gastonia, NC on Saturday June 3rd at 2pm. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:30pm prior to the service.
